The JSC Volga paper mill is located on the Volga river bank 30 km away from Nizhny Novgorod and 450 km away from Moscow. The project will utilize up to 172 100 of bark and wood waste and up to 60 900 tons of sludge from wastewater treatment facilities (18 900 tons of dry substance) to produce power for their own use. The project will lead to a decrease in consumption of fossil fuels (natural gas) at the neighbouring CHP plant and prevent waste being dumped in nearby landfills.
