International and national carbon policy

Camco frequently provides assistance to national, regional and local governments to help shape policy and build markets for a clean energy, low emissions future.Through detailed policy and analytical studies, we provide the robust technical, economic and financial basis that policy depends on. For example Camco’s analysis was instrumental in shaping the design of the EU Emissions Trading Scheme, and its prototype, the UK Emissions Trading Scheme.Internationally, we have worked for a number of international clients, from multilateral agencies such as UN agencies, the World Bank, the European Commission, OECD, IEA, GEF, to bilateral agencies including DFID, FCO, Swedish SIDA, Norwegian NORAD, Japanese JICA, and USAID, to international financial clients including the IFC, EBRD, and EIB.Within the past three years, for example, our analysis has served the Government of India on the economics of an energy intensity trading scheme, the development of the feed-in-tariff in South Africa, and the leveraging of additional carbon finance for emissions reductions from the brick-making sector in China. In the UK we have supported the Department of Energy and Climate Change in the setting of departmental carbon budgets, assessed the carbon reduction potential for the public sector in England and supported the development of policy to stimulate emission reductions in the domestic sector.
