The JSC Savinsky Cement Plant is one of the largest cement plants in the north-west of Russia and is part of the leading Russian cement producer Eurocement Group
The aim of the project is the switching of production kilns and energy boilers from coal to natural gas, a cleaner and more environmentally friendly fuel. Up to 251,000 tonnes of coal will be offset by natural gas and related efficiency gains will lead to a decrease of consumption of 16,000 MWh from the grid.
In addition to lower emissions of greenhouse gases, the project will result in lower emissions of pollutants like carbon monoxide, coal dust, sulphur oxide, and nitric oxide, and an improvement in the quality of the cement.
