Charlotte Challis - Principal Consultant, Overmoor, UK

Life is certainly busy, often hectic, but I thrive on being able to balance the different parts of my life, enjoying a stimulating work environment where I feel I am able to use my technical skills within projects but also bring my organisational and people management skills to benefit the team.

I joined Camco back in 2004 after working in the water industry on biogas generation for use in CHP plant and energy management. I had studied Mechanical Engineering at Warwick University with a focus on sustainable development and renewable technology.
One of the first projects I got involved with was on Carbon Management work with Local Authorities. For the first few years I worked on most types of projects including buildings work, renewable, energy management and emissions assessment, but Carbon Management was the area I particularly enjoyed. I really enjoyed the mix of being able to offer my technical knowledge alongside facilitation and organisational change. Since joining Camco I have been fortunate enough to take advantage of a series of opportunities, the first was managing a team of 10 in a year-long carbon management programme. I took responsibility for the development of the carbon management work area in the private sector. I then took on a mentoring role within our graduate programme. Being able to talk through issues, come up with creative solutions and then help structure and keep track of development and progress was really great. So when an opportunity came up to take on a line management role supporting the director in charge of the site I jumped at the chance During this time Camco has always supported my work/life balance I have been blessed with having two children, taking 7 months off and then 1 year on respective maternity leaves. While on maternity leave with my second daughter the opportunity came up to take on running the office I work out of, including line management of the staff and a position on the management team. I applied for the role and got it, Camco provided cover for the role until I returned to take the post. I came back to work part time and picked up the public sector carbon management work again. Life is certainly busy, often hectic, but I thrive on being able to balance the different parts of my life, enjoying a stimulating work environment where I feel I am able to use my technical skills within projects but also bring my organisational and people management skills to benefit the team.

Standing next to a mile-long iron and steel production line in China, and then seeing the clean-energy power plant attached to it, really put things in perspective. If we can help the most energy-intensive industries improve, then there is real hope

Keith Regan, Associate Director, Advisory services, London
I joined Camco in 2006 when the London team comprised just a handful of set up staff. In the three years since then my role has been wide and varied. I have worked across various teams and regional offices with extensive travel to China and the United States on a range of interesting projects from major carbon industry meetings to showcasing our emission reduction projects in China to investors. My initial focus was on commercial activities, looking at the profitability of our projects and carbon portfolio structuring. This led to performance reporting to the board and formed the basis of a continued investor relations remit. As Camco moved into its acquisition phase in 2007 I undertook the commercial due diligence for the ESD merger as well as the strategic review of further M&A opportunities during that year.2007 also saw my role diversify into corporate communications, heading the development of a marketing team to grow and develop the brand. More recently I’ve been heavily involved in establishing the strategy consulting service whilst looking at future growth opportunities and strategic options for Camco as part of the corporate strategy team."There are two qualities at Camco that distinguish us from other companies. The first is the passion everyone who works here has for the environment, and our ability to make a difference. The second quality, is that we’re always ready to ‘get our hands dirty’ in the detail of projects around the world. There's a lot of work to do, but if we can help the most energy-intensive industries improve, then there’s real hope. That's something everyone here shares."
